New direction.

For a long while now i have been watching the kayak fishing scene in other countries and indeed here in Ireland.
So i have taken the plunge and ordered an Ocean Prowler 13 Angler kayak.
Delivery will be in about the mid August mark.
I look forward to learning a whole new type of fishing and to really combine the salt water fly fishing with the kayak.
Stay tuned.

East Cork on the lure 6th August.
What a night! One bass landed 4.5lb and one lost at my feet.
But that's not why......every second or third cast, a bass would follow the lure to my feet.
I have never seen so many follows in all my time lure fishing.
At least 30 +.
I tried every lure in my box and fast/slow erratic ...no good!!
At one point, 3 bass followed the lure in! Usually this competitive behaviour results in a take.
Nothing i tried would get them to take...and i had no bait or JELLY eel's.........
I think the jelly's would have done the trick.
I had my fly rod, but it was too windy.
Very enjoyable night!
Both fish C&R ...one by itself!

Bass fishing in the dark.
I had my broken fly rod tip section replaced yesterday, and went out to a spot outside Cork harbour to test it out.
I fished in to the darkness with a floating line and a 1/0 Gurgler fly, but had no luck!
The weather was far from ideal, with some very heavy shower's and poor visibility.
But...i have my fly rod back in action!!!

Early start this morn. East Cork lure fishing.
Got up at 5.30 this morn to go Bass fishing, but was delayed waiting for my wife to get home from a party.
She eventually arrived back at 5.45!! Party animal!
straight in to the car and off to an east Cork mark.
Big tide 4meter+.
Water was clear-ish but with lots of red weed in it which proved hard at the start, but as the tide pushed in it pushed the weed in to.
This Mark is on rocks fishing over a shallow rocky reef full of weed and gullies.
It took a long time to connect to a fish and 3/4 hour before full tide i hit the first one.
small enough about 2lb (guestimate)
Next fish was a little better................about 3lb but in my excitement i forgot to photo it!!!
Then a lovely fish a good 4lb
After that i struck into what i thought was the reef until i was nearly pulled in!!
A really good fish on and i hoped the hook's would hold as i had crushed the barbs after the first fish......
DISASTER... i saw the fish come up head first and shaking the lure...it flew out and the fish was gone...ah well...
I adjusted the clutch(should have thought of that earlier!)and cursing myself i fished on.....
One more take produced another nice 4lb fish
A great morning's fishing!
Pity about the big one ...B.T.F! (but that's fishing)
