I did it again!

I begged and got down on my knee's like the sniveling little girl i am and begged for a free pass...
The paperwork got stamped and off i went...
Put on a sand eel pattern (Andy again) and trolled to my mark......
3 other bass swam with this one while playing it, but i only got a single mack later....
still a happy chappy..
tested the repair in me dry suit too and a result!!
cider and ribs now!

time for a pee...

i burst my butt trying....

The fly from chasing silver...trolled on a floating line..

Well ...I did it ...

This is one of the flies from Chasing Silver which did the biz for me on two of the Bass.
A flat wing.

Trolling seemed to be the method that worked .. over shallow weedy ground. A rio floating fly line with 10lb drennan leader 10ft. long.

Happy to go back to fight again

Nice!

Chasing silver fly...

Again....

lovely evening...

lots of craft on the water

this one took a clouser...

Not catching much.. with a twist....

well... i have been out twice from the shore and once from the yak, since Emily caught her Bass.
The first shore trip had lure and fly, and i had so many follows i lost count.
I tried every trick i know...(except bait) and they would not take.
The second shore trip was fly only... floating and sinking line and, for August, the water was like a desert... lifeless....no joy....
The last trip, was from kayak and using feathers and lure, i caught Mack's and Pollack...nothing unusual in size, but my "Big" lures failed to connect to a Bass.

SO!

Im out tomorrow night with the fly rod off the yak... SouthEasterly winds dont sound good, but, i will give it a bash.........
wish me luck.. i need a fix!

Think...they look like this...not sure...

aaaagghhhh!!!

Emily's first Bass.

Well... we went for mack's... but she caught something bigger..... 6lb line and a very small lure.....i only helped at the last min.
It was a close run thing... but she did it!!

WHAT HAVE I STARTED??? :>)

(edit...the Elvis Sunny's are NOT mine!)

weather beaten

Well... i went out today on the Yak with loads of plans... but the weather beat me back...the sea was just too rough in the place i wanted to fish, and i retreated....
That's fishing!
So here is a consolation pic.....

Bruce Anchor.

I bought a Bruce Anchor from the U.K. a couple of weeks ago, because i heard they would give about 4 times their weight in gripping power.
Its a .5kg stainless model....very light!
I have used it in strong current and so far it seems, as long as you let out plenty of line ( i use low dia. para cord )...it will work fine.
Also, you must, as usual, use a length of chain....
I will update this post as i use it more often.
Edit) so i have used it a good few times now and yes i would recommend it.. its so light its a doddle to use... the only negative point i have is, because you have to let out lots of line, anchoring accuracy close to structures is tricky...but still i wont change back for now!!

K.A.I. Mini mini meet!

I met with Joe and Edgar from K.A.I on a cool but calm Saturday morning for a spot of Bass lure fishing inside Cork Harbour.
The Fishing was slower than expected with two Bass and a single Mackerel Caught.
It was a nice big tide 4.1 meter..a very enjoyable morning though..

All set up at 4:30 am to be there for 5:00am....

getting sorted....

Lunch break....

Edgar thrashing the water to a foam at times!

Several miles paddled..

Joe got Sunday dinner...this is a nice size to eat...

I got to test my Bruce anchor in a very strong current.....

My only Bass of the day ...6lb

going back to fight another day...

Photography

I know nothing about camera's...when fishing i use my Nokia Phone and put a silicone case on it, to help protect it...
Someday i may invest in a proper waterproof camera...but for now, i will keep using my phone...........cheap and cheerful!
