weather beaten

Well... i went out today on the Yak with loads of plans... but the weather beat me back...the sea was just too rough in the place i wanted to fish, and i retreated....
That's fishing!

Bruce Anchor.

I bought a Bruce Anchor from the U.K. a couple of weeks ago, because i heard they would give about 4 times their weight in gripping power.
Its a .5kg stainless model....very light!
I have used it in strong current and so far it seems, as long as you let out plenty of line ( i use low dia. para cord )...it will work fine.
Also, you must, as usual, use a length of chain....
I will update this post as i use it more often.
Edit) so i have used it a good few times now and yes i would recommend it.. its so light its a doddle to use... the only negative point i have is, because you have to let out lots of line, anchoring accuracy close to structures is tricky...but still i wont change back for now!!

K.A.I. Mini mini meet!

I met with Joe and Edgar from K.A.I on a cool but calm Saturday morning for a spot of Bass lure fishing inside Cork Harbour.
The Fishing was slower than expected with two Bass and a single Mackerel Caught.
It was a nice big tide 4.1 meter..a very enjoyable morning though..

All set up at 4:30 am to be there for 5:00am....

getting sorted....

Lunch break....

Edgar thrashing the water to a foam at times!

Several miles paddled..

Joe got Sunday dinner...this is a nice size to eat...

I got to test my Bruce anchor in a very strong current.....

My only Bass of the day ...6lb

going back to fight another day...

Photography

I know nothing about camera's...when fishing i use my Nokia Phone and put a silicone case on it, to help protect it...
Someday i may invest in a proper waterproof camera...but for now, i will keep using my phone...........cheap and cheerful!

After work session

Left work and headed to launching spot...set up my gear and then realised i had left my Phone in my work pants...
No photo's on this trip....
Launched and trolled to the venue....nothing...got there and nestled in between the rocks spinning in to deep-ish water..
Threw out lures and nothing...then put on a shad... two casts and bang ...fish on....landed ..admired and released..3 lb

Several casts later ...another about 3.5lb...returned....
Then nothing for a while then a fish and it came off.....
Then a very good take and i got pulled out of my weedy parking space... i grabbed for the rock...and oops ...very nearly went over ...
Dumb!
somehow got back in to the weed and played the fish.....nice one about 5.5lb ....
Later got a hit and my shad came back minus its red tail!!!!
Changed lure to a plain one, but nothing.......
Trolled back to launch spot...
Lesson learned....NEVER TRY TO LEAN OVER AND GRAB A ROCK...
Sorry about the lack of photo,s

Lure was just like this ...but with a red paddle tail and a mackerel pattern...

Ah....found a pic at last....tempest sidewinder...firemac
