After work session

Left work and headed to launching spot...set up my gear and then realised i had left my Phone in my work pants...
No photo's on this trip....
Launched and trolled to the venue....nothing...got there and nestled in between the rocks spinning in to deep-ish water..
Threw out lures and nothing...then put on a shad... two casts and bang ...fish on....landed ..admired and released..3 lb

Several casts later ...another about 3.5lb...returned....
Then nothing for a while then a fish and it came off.....
Then a very good take and i got pulled out of my weedy parking space... i grabbed for the rock...and oops ...very nearly went over ...
Dumb!
somehow got back in to the weed and played the fish.....nice one about 5.5lb ....
Later got a hit and my shad came back minus its red tail!!!!
Changed lure to a plain one, but nothing.......
Trolled back to launch spot...
Lesson learned....NEVER TRY TO LEAN OVER AND GRAB A ROCK...
Sorry about the lack of photo,s

Lure was just like this ...but with a red paddle tail and a mackerel pattern...

Ah....found a pic at last....tempest sidewinder...firemac

Chasing silver again!

Well ..longlegs could not make it...(another Kayaker)......So up at 6:45 and off to venue.
Out, on to the water, and on the first drift with a chartreuse fly, trolled behind me...and.. BANG.. fish on ... good size too..Fly was from Andy... Chasing Silver.
Its a chartreuse flatwing tied on a tiemco 600sp..
Later i got a take on the lure rod, but it came off...and that was it ...
loads of shore anglers there too, (later on) but they all blanked... so not a bad result i suppose... but i thought i would get more......
Thats fishing......... (C&R of course)

Summer evening sea Bass......

Went out to a spot i wanted to try for a couple of weeks now to fish the incoming tide into darkness... Got there to find my tide times were slightly out, so set up and waited for some water to paddle on! Eventually set off and started to troll the spot that i liked the look of... Nothing happened for quite a while, then as it was getting dark the rod doubled over and the tell tale head shaking began...Bass on! I must say, this fish put up a great fight ...the best yet...the yak turned and got towed in the still air and water...after a while it came up and with a quick Boga grip a lovely fish came aboard... Hooked just in the corner of the mouth... and hook out...no problem....

Nice...on the fly rod too...great fight....

A lovely Bass last night off the yak on the fly rod.....

A super fight....

A few Pollack too...

Chasing Silver

Alarm set 3:45 am ...up and off..45 min to venue....
Met Longlegs at venue and he brought me to another spot to try for Pollack while waiting for tide to be optimum for main target species.....
Set up and launched in to very calm flat sheltered bay...looking out to sea to observe very large swell with breaking tops...nasty!
Longlegs hit the Pollack first after commenting on his lack of faith in his new lure......
He struck again ...both Pollack were good size and fit condition...
Not sure the order of events now... but it ended up 3 Pollack to 2 to longlegs...i captured my smaller fish and i am convinced one of his earlier Pollack...we headed in and moved to main venue......
We had a quick bite to eat.
Launched in to a very flat sea and paddled out and anchored up....lure and fly flew in all directions.....nothing...then i got a good take but no hook up....
We both slagged each other and another few chucks and fish on!
Lure rod bent over and head shaking and my first kayak Bass on the way up........then FISH OFF!!!!!
I blame Longlegs for shouting and roaring like a rabid chimp on a yak......
After a while i put on one of Andy's flies from chasing silver...the sand eel pattern and while trolling.. .got a good hit on the fly rod...FISH ON... and after a lovely fight i landed my first Kayak Bass.....Yippee...duck broken.....finally!
Then after awhile another fish trolling too....
So we both set up the fly rods to paddle troll and ended up with 6 Bass in total the largest 4.5lb..smallest 2.5lb....

A great day out on the water......
