Nice...on the fly rod too...great fight....

A lovely Bass last night off the yak on the fly rod.....

A super fight....

A few Pollack too...

Chasing Silver

Alarm set 3:45 am ...up and off..45 min to venue....
Met Longlegs at venue and he brought me to another spot to try for Pollack while waiting for tide to be optimum for main target species.....
Set up and launched in to very calm flat sheltered bay...looking out to sea to observe very large swell with breaking tops...nasty!
Longlegs hit the Pollack first after commenting on his lack of faith in his new lure......
He struck again ...both Pollack were good size and fit condition...
Not sure the order of events now... but it ended up 3 Pollack to 2 to longlegs...i captured my smaller fish and i am convinced one of his earlier Pollack...we headed in and moved to main venue......
We had a quick bite to eat.
Launched in to a very flat sea and paddled out and anchored up....lure and fly flew in all directions.....nothing...then i got a good take but no hook up....
We both slagged each other and another few chucks and fish on!
Lure rod bent over and head shaking and my first kayak Bass on the way up........then FISH OFF!!!!!
I blame Longlegs for shouting and roaring like a rabid chimp on a yak......
After a while i put on one of Andy's flies from chasing silver...the sand eel pattern and while trolling.. .got a good hit on the fly rod...FISH ON... and after a lovely fight i landed my first Kayak Bass.....Yippee...duck broken.....finally!
Then after awhile another fish trolling too....
So we both set up the fly rods to paddle troll and ended up with 6 Bass in total the largest 4.5lb..smallest 2.5lb....

A great day out on the water......

Son out-fishes father!!

Shocker! We were out for a small lure session off the rocks last night when the unthinkable happened... James Snr. pretended to know what HE was doing.. giving way too much advice to a determined James Jnr. As the night went on James Jnr's casting ability improved greatly due to gritty determination on his part... Sadly James Snr. forgot the golden rule of water craft... and by belting the lures to the horizon (in a somewhat Manly fashion) failed to connect to any fish. James Jnr. connected to this fine Pollack right under his feet to snatch Victory on the night!! Well done James!
The winner holding his prize..... Even I managed a few fish on the night.... The venue....

Jelly and Pollack

Out for an afternoon fishing on the Yak...i had wanted to fish the evening but it was already windy and a force 7 was coming....
I got there to find very choppy conditions so i was limited to a sheltered spot, but what a spot!
Pollack after pollack came up to various types of jelly,s all around the same size..no monsters..

Great sport on the lure rod...and the sun was blazing!

I did get a very big hit but it came off and i didn't see the fish..so who knows?
The jig head hook was bent...Bass?
All the fish went back..not sure how many, lost count after a while you don't care when its a red letter day!
